New Assisted Living Facility Goes Green

Madbury NH, May 12, 2015—The recent ground breaking for the Carriage Hill Assisted living facility is now in full swing with the footers and frost walls being poured in the past week.  Carriage Hill will be one of New Hampshire’s newest assisted living facilities.

Senior housing in New Hampshire is increasingly becoming harder to find as the population ages. Despite the increased demand of senior housing in NH, the owners of Carriage Hill want to be as green as possible in building their facility. “Being green is important to us and our community, “said Sara Nadeau Carriage Hill’s President and Administrator.

Starting with the frost walls, the facility will be constructed using insulated concrete forms or ICF. ICF technology is a sustainable building system that is structurally tough and highly energy efficient. In addition, it has superior fire resistance and sound suppression. ICF structures, on average, will use 44 % less energy for heating in a calendar year and 32 % less energy for cooling. “Being green is not only the right thing to do, it enables us to provide a more cost effective assisted living facility in New Hampshire, “ said Nadeau.

As the building progresses there will be other energy efficient technologies unveiled.
